Day 1: Arrival and Addis Ababa Tour

Visit Geraltha Mountain tour starts with a warm welcome from our friendly guide upon your arrival. You will be taken to your hotel to rest and freshen up. Then, begin your adventure with a city tour before heading to Geraltha Mountain. First, enjoy a scenic drive up Mount Entoto, where you’ll get a stunning view of Addis Ababa. Next, visit the National Museum to see ancient fossils, including the famous ‘Lucy.’ Continue to the Holy Trinity Cathedral, built during World War II, and explore the Ethnographic Museum, once the palace of Emperor Haile Selassie. End your day at Merkato, East Africa’s largest open-air market. Spend a comfortable night in Addis Ababa, ready for the journey ahead.

Day 2: Fly to Mekele and Drive to Hawzen

After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to the airport for your flight to Mekele. Once you arrive, our team will welcome you and drive you to Hawzen. On the way, visit the unique rock-hewn churches of Wukro Cherkos and Abraha Atsbeha, Ethiopia’s first church, famous for its beautiful interior art. You’ll also stop at Dugum Sellase before arriving in Hawzen for the night.

Day 3: Explore Debre Tsion Mariam & Yohannes Makudi

Start your day with a visit to Debre Tsion Abune Abreham Monastery, a stunning church carved entirely from solid rock. Then head to Yohannes Makudi, one of Ethiopia’s earliest Coptic Christian churches, set between tall sandstone cliffs. After your visit, return to Hawzen to rest for the night.

Day 4: Explore Abune Yemata

After breakfast, drive to the base of Geraltha Mountain to visit the ancient monastery of Debre Mariam Korkor, which dates back to the 6th century. Then take a short walk to Abba Daniel’s Prayer Room, a small but beautiful rock church. After the visit, return to Hawzen for your overnight stay.

Day 5: Return to Mekele and Fly to Addis Ababa

Today, drive back to Mekele to catch your flight to Addis Ababa. In the evening, enjoy a folkloric dinner with a variety of Ethiopian national dishes and traditional dances from different ethnic groups. The night will end with a traditional coffee ceremony. Afterward, your 5-day Geraltha Mountain Tour concludes, and you will be transferred to the airport for your departure, finishing your memorable Ethiopian adventure.
